The scope of work includes public areas within the new international terminal, such as work zones, playgrounds, outdoor canopies, comfortable seating arrangements, and smoking rooms.
The main goal of the design concept was to elevate the space while simultaneously neutralizing the dominant blue-and-yellow color scheme of the terminal provided by the Client. Neutral colors, clean lines, and natural materials were selected to create a calming environment for passengers without overshadowing statement artworks or the mountain views visible through the windows.
One of the main challenges was working within an existing design framework, strict deadlines—the Client approached us only eight months prior to the airport’s opening—and a limited implementation budget. Nevertheless, by prioritizing local materials and manufacturers, we were able to allocate part of the budget toward design solutions that enhance both the value and inclusivity of the project. As a result, a stress-relief quiet room and an inclusive playground were proposed.
